Henry H. Roenigk, Jr., MD
Henry Roenigk attended Ohio University and Northwestern Medical School, completed an internship at Tripler Army Hospital and the Scholfeld Army Dispensary in Honolulu, and spent 2 years in the department of dermatology. In 1963, he returned to Cleveland to begin his residency in dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic. In 1966 he was appointed to the staff of the Cleveland Clinic and served as head of the department from 1967 until 1977. During this time the Dermatologic Surgery Unit at the Clinic was started. In 1977 Dr. Roenigk became the Walter J. Hamlin Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, until 1992. Henry's tenure as chairman was rich and full with expansion of medical and surgical facilities and faculty members. In 1998 he became Emeritus at Northwestern and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and where he is in private practice. Dr. Roenigk has written over 350 publications and 8 major textbooks. Three of the surgical textbooks he has written with his son Randy, who is Chairman of Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic. Henry has been an active producer of CME education: a) Hawaii Dermatology Seminar (29years), b) Cosmetic Dermatology Seminars (20 years), c) International Psoriasis Symposium, e) H & H Dermatology Seminars thru the Skin Disease Education Foundation (an Elsevier Company). Henry has served on the Boards of many professional associations in various capacities, including President of the Noah Worchester Derm Society, Chicago Dermatology Society, ASDS and the ISDS.
