Howard I. Maibach, MD
Dr. Maibach received both his college degree (1950) and his medical degree (1955) from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA. By 1961 he completed his residency and fellowship at USPHS, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. After receiving both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, Dr. Maibach moved north to Philadelphia, PA where he completed his residency and fellowship at USPHS, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following his graduate training, Dr. Maibach took a position as an assistant instructor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and was a lecturer at the University’s Graduate School of Medicine. In 1961 Dr. Maibach joined the University of California faculty as an assistant professor and continues to practice there today. During his extensive career, Dr. Maibach has authored and co-authored over 1,400 publications and 50 books. His most active fields of study are dermatopharmacology, dermatotoxicology and environmental dermatoses. He has been doing human subject research for over 25 years and is an expert consultant to government, academia, and industry worldwide. He currently resides in San Francisco, California.
