Jenny Kim, M.D., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Medicine/Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Chief of Dermatology at the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare Services Veterans Affairs. Dr. Kim received her M.D. and Ph.D. from UCLA and also completed her dermatology residency and Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship there. She has been a UCLA faculty member since 2000.
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on investigating mechanisms of innate immune responses in dermatologic diseases, including acne, superficial skin infections, skin cancers and aging. Dr. Kim’s research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and she has received various awards for her research.
Currently Dr. Kim serves on various committees for the American Academy of Dermatology, Society for Investigative Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and was recently inducted in to the American Dermatologic Association. She is the author of numerous articles and reviews, serves as an editor for various scientific journals, and is a frequent consultant to various pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical companies. Dr. Kim is nationally recognized and lectures extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
In addition to her academic endeavors, Dr. Kim is passionate about her philanthropic work. She co-founded Camp Wonder in 2001, a camp that serves children with severe skin disorders. Dr. Kim has two young daughters and is married to Frederick Beddingfield, M.D., Ph.D.
