Rosanne M. Kho, MD

Dr. Kho's clinical and academic work has focused on advancing vaginal and minimally invasive surgery.  She was involved in the early adoption of robotics in gynecology during her fellowship training that has lead to multiple publications evaluating the appropriate application of the technology in the field.  She is a strong advocate of the vaginal approach for benign hysterectomy and is recognized for her passion to bring vaginal surgery back into the armamentarium of the gynecologic surgeon. In recognition of her expertise in vaginal surgery, she was the Donald Richardson Memorial Lecture Speaker for ACOG ACM in April 2014.  Recently, she developed an online module on the essentials of vaginal hysterectomy in collaboration with AAGL, ACOG and SGS.  In addition to speaking on these topics, she has participated in live surgeries nationally and internationally demonstrating the applications of robotics and vaginal surgery in gynecology.  Dr. Kho is published in the field of gynecologic surgery having authored many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.  She serves as a Senior Editor for Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.

She served as President of the AAGL/SRS Fellowship Board in MIGS in 2015 where she led the efforts to revamp and standardize the requirements and goals of Fellowship training.  She has also spearheaded the process of seeking Focused-Practice recognition from ABOG for Advanced Benign Surgery in Gynecology.  These efforts are intended to ultimately elevate the training and quality of surgical care for women with benign conditions.

Dr. Kho has a great interest in teaching trainees in the residency and fellowship levels.  She has also conducted multiple CME programs and hands-on workshops for national meetings.  In recognition of her presentation skills and teaching, she received an award for Top Faculty of the Year (one of two recipients) in 2009 and Top Speaker of the Year in 2007 and 2008 (as one of 10 annual recipients) from the CME department at the Mayo Clinic.   Dr. Kho also directed the first cadaveric workshop in vaginal hysterectomy for the annual AAGL Congress in 2012 and for ACOG ACM in 2014.
Since 2002, Dr. Kho has been involved in medical missions.  She organizes surgical teams and travels to remote areas including Central Mexico and Brazil annually to teach and provide women the benefits of the minimally invasive approach.
